I'm about to drop the landline, a move millions of Americans have made in the past few years. I pay $16 for basic service and $5 for forwarding calls to my cell phone (which then also acts as my voicemail if I am unable to answer). That's $21 a month for the phone service.
The monthly taxes from Uncle Sam, Tejas and Austin? $12. I pay almost a 60% tax for this service. That's really amazing.
Are there other services taxed at a 60% rate?
I also pay these same taxes all over again for my cell phone service. No wonder millions of Americans are opting for mobile-only. I'm about make the move to deprive these taxing authorities of revenue. With joy.
