The Danger...Yea, Verily, the EVIL... of Halloween
Following up on Mark's post from yesterday, I thought I'd post a video of a neighbors on one street celebrating Halloween (click on "Halloween Parade"), filmed by a reporter from the Charlotte Observer.
In case CGO readers don't know this, Mark is a pastor in Charlotte.
In an interesting coincidence, some of Mark's parishioners were caught on video participating in the evil that is Halloween. You see a giant Winnie the Pooh leading children down a neighborhood street in a parade that must be occultic...the destination is a spread of pizza! You see children having fun. Parents loving celebrating their children. You see neighbors having fun, loving each other, serving each other in providing the dinner-in-the-street.
Oh, and the costumes. You see Barbie, Rangers, a princess, and, sure sign that this stuff is evil, a child in a dinosaur costume. Do you read of dinosaurs in the Bible? That two year old is part of the Vast Atheistic Conspiracy.
Full disclosure: I've been at this Halloween party at least once, maybe twice in years past. The Barbie in the pink dress? My niece. The dinosaur? My nephew. Winnie the Pooh? My brother-in-law Todd.
I wish more Christians loved their neighbors the way my sister and her family-- Pastor Mark's parishioners-- love theirs.
You probably like Harry Potter too.

I do! So much that when each new book came out, I read all the previous ones all over again. Love those books.

good point.
Luck rituals are probably the real thin edge of the wedge for verboten pagan participation, and Halloween as it are celebrated today lacks all the ones I can think of (bobbing for apples is about the only one left, and that fairly rare nowadays)
Kids having fun and getting candy with "spooky" decor is about it for what kids do with it.
