Welcome to Common Grounds Online. Readers of Common Grounds have suggested a website to continue the explorations they began in the book. In keeping with the interactions of Professor MacGregor, Brad, Lauren and Jarrod, the theme of this site is ‘learning and living the Christian story.’
I have invited friends, and a few friends of friends, to communicate aspects of the Christian story that have been significant in their own lives. We’re all trying to find joy and pleasure in this life and the next, but often we forfeit the joy that could be ours by living out foolish, competing scripts. What distinguishes Common Grounds Online Contributors is not our own goodness, achievement or service, but rather the recognition of our need of God’s grace abounding in our lives.
At CGO we strictly do not do politics. We ask that you not leave comments pertaining to politics. Instead, we're focusing on constructive depictions of what it looks like to live the Christian story in our day.
By way of resources, I am making available for free a Common Grounds Study Guide for small groups.
It should go without saying but in case it does not: the posts of each Contributor do not necessarily reflect the views of other Contributors, including me. While all the Contributors are committed to historic Christian orthodoxy, I have invited Contributors from a range of backgrounds and theological perspectives in the hopes that we might inspire, challenge, critique, encourage and inform our readers and each other. There are perspectives represented with which I disagree, but I hope we can seek the purity of the Church as we love and contend with and for one another.
My hope is that you will robustly and graciously engage the Contributors and one another. And if your thoughtful engagement is leavened by a good dose of humor, so much the better. I invite you to respond to our posts. The Contributors and I look forward to continuing the conversation with you.

The site's great. I haven't been able to really peruse the writings yet, but I look forward to doing so. Query: is there/or will there be any articles on the intersection of commerce and the Kingdom?

Yes, some of the Contributors will specifically be writing articles about 'living the Kingdom" and various aspects of business, finance, etc. Keep checking back and you'll start seeing regular posts about these topics.

I've been trying to engage you folks for a while now, to no avail, except two very polite e-mails about how you don't want to discuss politics.
Since then, I've been raising theological issues...but again to no avail.
Since I don't want to be where I'm not wanted, if I don't get a response to this comment, I'll assume that Common Grounds has its boundaries: no faith (Christian); no place in the dialog. Which would be quite unfortunate, as anyone can have theological questions -- believers or not. It actually plays into "liberal" (whatever that is) concerns that dialog is not the goal of the religious right; rather, monolog is.
I hope I'm wrong; I see that the book this site is connected to was written by well-educated people (you being one of them).
I assumed, perhaps wrongly, that open comments meant open comments. If you don't want to engage the blogosphere, close your comments to members-only.
But then, you'll just be an echo-chamber -- as much of one as the blogs you rightly decried in one of your polite responses to an earlier comment of mine.

Have you by chance crossed the abovementioned hurdle of email notification yet? I write for [SharperIron.org] and [Got Me a College Girl]. I'd like to subscribe to such a list and add this site to my own sidebar for future cogitations. =}
Also... IF the "League of Reformed Bloggers" isn't a due-paying league, I'd like to see my blog [karagraphy.com] join that list.
(With gas prices what they are, I can't afford to pay dues AND keep being a Caedmons groupie.)

Great site, definitely will read it often. One question - have you guys thought of putting a "search" box somewhere on these pages? I know they are already crowded along the sides, but adding the function should be easy to do using Moveable Type, and it sure would be a lot easier to type something in the box than sifting through archives looking for older posts. Just a thought! Thanks!

Excellent idea. Do you know off the top of your head how I can make this happen? It should be illegal for someone as tech-idiot as I am to be involved with a blog but I'm still ignorant as can be about such things. Does Typepad offer its own search function? Would I need to do something to get a Google or Yahoo search engine installed?

I came across this site while looking for a friend. Your site is thoughtful, engaging, and even fun!
I will be sure to tell my students about the site; a good reformed website combining all three is hard to come by, and I - providentially - seem to have run into one! Keep up the good work.

In the preface to the 'Common Grounds' Study Guide you said "...(this is the first of five stories involving the same characters). I have searched for additional books by you and have found none. Are the other books out or are they in the works.
